Long History Long Future

In 1927, the original Variety Club was created by eleven businessmen involved in the entertainment industry. The sudden discovery of an infant in one of their theatres, abandoned by a desperate mother with eight other mouths to feed, prompted the men to band together to provide for the child's needs. Their organization grew into one that cares for children all over the world, and today boasts 43 chapters in 13 countries. Since its inception, Variety has raised over $1.5 billion internationally for children who have special needs.

The BC chapter was established in 1965, and since then has raised over $170 million for children who have special needs, and their families, across the province.

Through our three priorities - Cares, Freedom and Future - Variety provides grants to individuals and organizations for life-saving, life-changing and life-enriching equipment, supplies and programs.

Families who find themselves managing unexpected challenges, whether developmental or physical, are grateful for the support they receive. In all circumstances, Variety gives parents the chance to breathe easier in stressful times.
