Volunteer for Variety

With more than 200 fundraisers and special events each year, we're always on the look out for people who are committed, flexible and able to show initiative. Even more so, we're looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children who have special needs.

Benefits

At Variety we value your time, enthusiasm and passion. Our volunteers will enjoy meeting and working with like-minded people who are committed to our cause. Volunteering offers an opportunity to discover and enhance your strengths and talents while increasing your social and professional network. No matter how you become involved with Variety, you can be sure that you will be making a difference in the lives of others as well as your own.

People volunteer for many reasons and many feel rewarded by the good feeling they get from helping kids. While that reward is usually enough, we also believe in showing our volunteers appreciation by providing references and confirmation letters and hosting volunteer appreciation events. We want to say thank you so there is a recognition program based on number of hours and years of service.

Kinds of Volunteering

There are many ways to contribute to Variety throughout the province. Consider the following ways to become part of the work we do.

• Volunteer with Variety at our events or in the office
• Become a Variety Member or Volunteer Leader
• Join Urban Variety (ages 19-34)
• Join Young Variety Volunteers (ages 13-25)

Ways to get involved

Special Events
Special Event volunteer opportunities exist throughout BC. Become a part of the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon, the Variety Children’s Radiothon, Boat for Hope or any number of Variety events happening in your community.

In the Variety Office
Volunteer in our Burnaby office, assisting with office administration, data entry, mailings and phone calls.

Volunteer Leader
Take the lead and try a challenging position such as event volunteer supervisor, recognition assistant, data entry assistant, trainer, orientation coordinator or youth program coordinator.

Special Projects
These short and medium-term projects are perfect for someone who likes a defined task rather than an on-going responsibility. These projects are ideal for students, seniors who travel a lot, etc.

For more information on how you can get involved please contact the Manager of Volunteer Services at volunteer@variety.bc.ca or call 310-KIDS (5437).
